DHAKA, Nov 4, 2025 (BSS) - The Biplobi Workers Party today submitted a 31-point set of recommendations to Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin, calling for electoral reforms to ensure free, fair and credible national elections.

A five-member party delegation led by General Secretary Saiful Haque met with the CEC at the Election Commission Secretariat in the city's Agargaon.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Haque said that discussions with political parties were essential before finalizing amendments to the Representation of the People Order (RPO).

Among the key proposals, the party recommended the reintroduction of the 'no vote' system in all 300 constituencies, allowing voters to reject all candidates if they wish. It also urged the Election Commission not to increase the ceiling for campaign expenses, warning that elections would lose credibility if the "game of black money" continued.

The Biplobi Workers Party proposed reducing the security deposit for candidates to Tk 50,000 and limiting campaign expenditure to a maximum of Tk 25 lakh. It also suggested a coordinated public awareness campaign by the Election Commission to encourage voter participation and ensure compliance with election rules.

The party emphasized the need to strictly regulate the spread of disinformation, including content generated through artificial intelligence (AI), on social media platforms. It further recommended that dual citizens be barred from contesting or casting votes in the elections.

Other recommendations included introducing a suitable system to enable expatriates to cast their votes and treating any attempt to obstruct voters or influence them unlawfully as a punishable offense.

To strengthen electoral transparency, the party called for making the vote counting and result announcement process entirely open and verifiable. It also urged that the Election Commission be empowered to cancel voting at any polling center or even in an entire constituency if serious irregularities or forgeries are detected.

Saiful Haque said the proposals aim to restore public confidence in the electoral process and reinforce the capacity and dignity of the Election Commission, which he described as a major challenge ahead of the upcoming national elections.
