DHAKA, Nov 4, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today ordered the authorities concerned to hand over tax documents of Taufika Aftab alias Taufika Karim, so-called friend and confidante of former Law Minister Anisul Huq, to CID.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order, allowing a plea of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). The court asked NBR's taxes zone-8 to comply with the order.

Investigation officer (IO) and CID's Financial Crimes Unit Sub-Inspector Moniruzzaman filed the plea before the court.

"A money laundering investigation is underway regarding the misuse of Anisul's power, including securing bail in court for accused individuals, involvement in employment-related dealing, manipulation of transfers, and other irregular activities, through which money was used to purchase flats, cars, and land, as well as for transferring funds abroad. For the sake of a fair and impartial investigation, it is essential to obtain her income tax records and related documents from 2010 to 2025," the CID plea said.
