DHAKA, Nov 6, 2025 (BSS) - Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have arrested two alleged kidnappers and rescued an abducted schoolgirl from the Taimurnagar area under Companyganj upazila in Sylhet within 24 hours of her abduction.

Acting on a tip-off, an operational team of RAB-9 conducted a raid in the Taimurnagar area near Tukerbazra under Companyganj upazila at around 12:30am early today and arrested the two kidnappers while rescuing the girl from their possession, said a press release issued by RAB.

The arrested were identified as Rahmat Ullah Khandkar, 21, son of Md Kajol Miah, and his father Md Kajol Miah, 45, both residents of Gapinathpur village under Raypura upazila in Narsingdi district.

According to RAB officials, the duo, along with their accomplices, abducted the victim - a class five student of a local kindergarten school - from in front of a coaching centre at Raypura upazila around 9:40am yesterday while she was returning home.

Failing to trace the girl, her guardians lodged a complaint with Raypura Police Station, prompting RAB to launch a special operation to rescue her.

RAB officials said Rahmat Ullah had been harassing the girl on her way to school for a long time. Acting on intelligence, RAB members tracked the suspects' movements and located the hideout in Sylhet, where they carried out the rescue operation.

The arrested persons have been handed over to Raypura Police Station for further legal action, the RAB release added.
