ACC sues 6 recruiting agencies for realizing extra money

DHAKA, Nov 6, 2025 (BSS) - The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed cases against six recruiting agencies on charges of realizing extra money from Malaysia bound overseas job seekers.

“The commission filed six separate cases against six manpower recruitment agencies for charging additional money from overseas job seekers,” director general Md Akhtar Hossain said.

Addressing a regular media briefing at the commission’s office in the city, he said the accused formed a syndicate and violated terms and conditions of BMET and BAIRA registration. 

According to case details, the ACC investigation revealed that six organizations took an additional amount of Tk.525,22,97,600 from 31,331 workers.

It said they were involved in the process of sending workers to Malaysia by extra money from each worker instead of the government-set Tk.78,990.

The accused embezzled excess money in the name of health checks and other activities , the case details said.

It, however, said the ACC found that they committed punishable offenses under Sections 120(B)/161/162/163/164/165(A)/420/409/109 of the penal code, sections 4(2) and 4(3) of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2012 and section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947.

The accused are Ruhul Amin, proprietor of M/s Amin Tours and Travels (RL No. 981), Hasan Ahmed Chowdhury (Kiran), chairman and managing director Shahana Ferdous of Merit Trade International Ltd. (RL No. 933), Shamim Ahmed Chowdhury Noman, proprietor of Sadia International (RL No. 492), Md Iqbal Hossain, chairman and Md Badruddouja, managing director of Imperial Resources Ltd. (RL No. 1874),  Md Moniruzzaman, chairman and Md Alamgir Kabir, managing director of RRC Human Resource Service Ltd. (RL No. 1307), former managing director Abdullah Shahed, Director Md Joynal Abedin Nomani and managing director Shamsher Ahmed of Thanex International Ltd. (RL No. 1779).

The ACC said that the accused embezzled huge amount of money from the workers beyond approved fees.
