RANGPUR, Nov 10, 2025 (BSS) - Police arrested Jubo League leader Amjad Hossain, 50, from Pirgachha upazila of the district at 10:30 am today while conducting organisational activities to make the "Dhaka Lockdown" programme successful.

Amjad Hossain, son of Ansar Ali of Ramchandrapur village under the upazila, is serving as the President of the Koikuri Union Jubo League in Pirgachha upazila.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Pirgachha Police Station Romel Barua told BSS that Amjad was campaigning with local Jubo League leaders and activists in different areas of the Union to make the "Dhaka Lockdown" programme a success.

Upon receiving the information, a police team led by Sub-Inspector (SI) Md Shafiqul Islam Akand conducted a drive and arrested him.

"Amjad Hossain was sent to jail after we produced him before a Rangpur court this afternoon," the OC added.

Meanwhile, Awami League (AL) has announced a "Dhaka Lockdown" programme on Thursday (November 13) as the government earlier banned all activities of the AL and its associated and affiliated organisations.

However, Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has told the media that there is no fear surrounding the programme.
