DHAKA, Nov 10, 2025 (BSS) – A team of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) conducted a drive in the Motijheel area of the city and arrested 18 people on charges of gambling.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of police carried out the drive in the Motijheel area around 9:30pm on Sunday and arrested the suspects. The arrestees have been produced before the court, according to a statement issued today by the DMP’s Media and Public Relations Division.

The arrestees are Md Shishir Sheikh, 27; Sahab Mia, 48; Md Alam, 40; Md Babul Mia, 48; Md Bappi, 32; Shakib, 25; Md Roni, 37; Nizam, 45; Md Farid Ahmed, 52; Palash, 35; Md Rabiul, 38; Sattar Mollah, 42; Wazed Ahmed Hazari, 45; Md Monir Hossain, 36; Md Swapan Mia, 44; Md Mizan, 24; Rana Hossain Bhuiyan, 30; and Azizul Islam Rocky, 36.

The statement said police recovered Tk 22,449 in cash and seized gambling materials, including playing cards, from their possession.
