DHAKA, Nov 11, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury today said that their party wants to restore democracy in the country through elections.

He said, "I want to clearly say that we want to restore democracy through elections. We must restore democracy through elections; we must free Bangladesh."

Khasru made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion marking the 17th founding anniversary of the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Palli Chikitsak Association at the Engineers Institute in Ramna.

The senior BNP leader alleged that some political parties are acting unconstitutionally. He said, "Those who lack the authority to speak are doing so; they are engaging in unconstitutional and illegal acts. Sheikh Hasina did not respect the constitution or the law. Even now, some political parties do not want to respect the constitution or the law."

"Even those who are not authorized to speak are speaking out. They agreed on a consensus, leading to the Charter 14 months ago. Now they are saying something different. They have no authority to do so," Khasru added.

Mentioning the current situation as a struggle to restore democracy, Khasru said, "To free Bangladesh, everyone must strive. It won't be enough just to free the country from Hasina; democracy must be restored. It must be brought back to life."

"Some people are taking to the streets to forcefully impose their decisions. Do not try to postpone the election. Those who take to the streets to impose their decisions do not believe in democracy," he added.

Regarding the election, BNP Standing Committee member said, "Politicians are giving interviews for a job; the people will hire us. The decision rests with the people."

Then, he called upon the grassroots workers to stay in the field until the election results are obtained.

Khasru also outlined the BNP's plans if they came to power. He said, "If it comes to power, the BNP will decide to increase investment in the health and education sectors. It will ensure education and health services for all."

Expressing optimism about the country's economic future, he stated, "Bangladesh will have a 1-trillion dollar economy in the future." Simultaneously, he announced that the BNP aims to create one crore (ten million) jobs if they form the government.
Speaking about the party's role during this difficult time, he praised Tarique Rahman's leadership.

He said, "Tarique Rahman is working to lead the BNP forward during this difficult time. Grassroots BNP workers must also step forward along with him."
