Mastermind of 'Devil's Breath' gang held in city

DHAKA, Nov 11, 2025 (BSS) - Police have arrested an alleged mastermind of a 
gang in the capital's Rupnagar area who used the chemical "Devil's Breath" 
(scopolamine) aiming to loot money and gold ornaments from victims.

The mastermind was identified as Mst Tania, 40.

It was disclosed in a press release here today, signed by Muhammad Talebur 
Rahman, Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) of Dhaka 
Metropolitan Police (DMP).

Based on a case, filed by one Belal Hossain after a robbery that occurred 
with his wife Nasima Akter on November 8, a team of Rupnagar Police conducted 
a raid in the early hours of today at Uttara Diabari under Turag Police 
Station and arrested Tania.

Police recovered three bhori and six ana of gold, cash Taka 9,01,840, a 
private car, a digital gold scale, imitation jewelry and a mobile phone from 
her possession.

According to police, Tania had long been targeting expatriate families, 
rendering victims unconscious with 'Devil's Breath' before looting the 
valuables. 

She is accused in 38 cases filed with different police stations.

Tania was sent to court following her arrest.
