Starlink opens e-learning in Khagrachari schools

DHAKA, Nov 12 2025 (BSS)- Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited (BSCL) and Khagrachari Hill District Council yesterday signed an agreement to provide digital education to school students in Khagrachari hill district.

The e-learning programme has been launched as part of the government’s commitment for expansion of the technology-based education in the country’s hilly region, opening a new horizon in the development of the region, officials said.

BSCL Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Dr Muhammad Imadur Rahman and Khagrachhari Hill District Council Chairman Shefalika Tripura signed the agreement at Khagrachhari district circuit house, a press release of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology today said.

Under the agreement, e-learning system will be introduced in primary and secondary schools of Khagrachari district in phases through Starlink internet connections.

As a result of this initiative, students in the hilly areas will get the opportunity to participate in online classes, digital content and virtual educational activities through uninterrupted and high-speed internet connections, officials said. 

The hilly students of the remote areas will also be able to join mainstream education despite geographical barriers.

Speakers at the event said this agreement has opened the door of a new possibility in the education sector in the hilly region. 

BSCL General Manager (Sales and Marketing) Shah Ahmedul Kabir, Senior Manager Hamed Hasan Muhammad Mohiuddin and officials of the district council were present at the event.
