DHAKA, Nov 12, 2025 (BSS) - Gono Odhikar Parishad has asked the Election Commission (EC) not to invite the Awami League's allies Jatiya Party, 14 parties, and those who pushed the country towards destruction by participating in the 2024 dummy elections under the fascist Sheikh Hasina, to its dialogue.

Leaders of the Gono Odhikar Parishad made this demand in writing at meeting with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin at Nirbachan Bhaban in the city's Agargaon today.

A four-member delegation, led by the party's General Secretary Md Rashed Khan, met the CEC.

After the meeting with the CEC, Rashed Khan told reporters that the National Consensus Commission did not invite the allies of the fascist Awami League. "Why would you invite them? If they call them on the pretext of registration, then the country's people can start a movement," he said.

In its letter sent to CEC, Gono Odhikar Parishad urged the EC to hold dialogue with only those political parties the National Consensus Commission held talks. Otherwise, if the fascist allies get a chance to have dialogue with the EC, it will be a betrayal of the blood of the students and the people. Even if the Election Commission takes such a step, the people may get angry and start a movement.

"In the past 16 years, the leaders of the Awami League earned money by looting. They have no shortage of illegal money. So, if the Awami League leaders, who are in posts, get a chance to participate in the elections independently, they may indulge in a conspiracy to spoil the elections through money circulation and muscle power.

"In this regard, we request the Election Commission to clarify its position by taking appropriate steps to ensure that no banned Awami League leader or activist gets the opportunity to participate in the elections even as an independent candidate, in order to make the election free and fair," the letter read.
