DHAKA, Nov 12, 2025 (BSS) – A team of Detective Branch (DB) of police has arrested five suspects including two shooters with two foreign pistols in connection with killing a top listed criminal Mamun in broad daylight in Old Dhaka’s Sutrapur area on Monday from Narsingdi and Dhaka on Tuesday night.  

“Tarif Saif Mamun was killed over enmity with another criminal Roni in establishing supremacy in the underworld,” additional deputy commissioner of DB Md Shafiqul Islam told a news briefing at DMP Media centre here today.    
   
He said they arrested two shooters Faruk and Robin and their accomplices Shamim, Rubel and Yusuf in connection with the killing of Mamun. 

Of them, Faruk, Rabin, Shamim and Rubel were arrested from Narsingdi on Tuesday night while Yusuf was later apprehended from the capital’s Rayerbazar area. 

   Two foreign pistols, six rounds of bullet, two magazines, and a motorcycle used in the murder and Tk 1.53lakh in cash were seized during the operations, Islam said.

 Of the arrestees, Faruk and Robin shot dead Mamun for Tk 2 lakh at the directives of Roni, he said.  

After committing the murder, Faruk and Robin deposited the firearms and bullets to Rubel at the directives of Roni while Rubel kept those to Yusuf, the DB chief said.

Rubel is a rent a car trader while Yusuf is a trailer, he said.
