Five remanded over murder of listed criminal Mamun

DHAKA, Nov 12, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today placed five people, including the two shooters who gunned down the listed criminal Tarik Saif Mamun, in broad daylight in Old Dhaka's Sutrapur area on Monday, on a four-day remand each in an arms case.
 
The five remanded accused are-- shooters Faruk and Robin and their accomplices Shamim, Rubel and Yusuf.
 
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Partho Bhodro passed the order after the police produced the five before the court and pleaded to place them on a 10-day remand in a case filed under the Arms Act with the capital's Mohammadpur Police Station.
 
Police arrested Faruk, Robin, Shamim and Rubel from Narsingdi on Tuesday night while Yusuf was later apprehended from the capital's Rayerbazar area. Two foreign-made pistols, six rounds of bullets, two magazines, and a motorcycle used in the murder and Taka 1.53 lakh in cash were seized from their possession. 
 
Police later filed the case with the Mohammadpur Police Station.
 
Faruk and Robin gunned Mamun down in broad daylight on Monday. After committing the murder, Faruk and Robin deposited the firearms and bullets with Rubel while he [Rubel] gave those to Yusuf.
