2 held over abduction, murder of student Sudipto

DHAKA, Nov 12, 2025 (BSS) – The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested two persons in Tangail district last night for their alleged involvement in the abduction and murder of a 17-year-old Sudipto Roy.

The arrestees were identified as Abdullah, 22 and Zobaid Dewan, 22.

The information was disclosed in a DMP press release today, signed by DMP's media and public relations division Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Talebur Rahman.

Vatara Thana police also recovered victim's body and other evidences of murder in a drive, the release added.

Police said Sudipto, a student of Cambrian School and College, went missing on November 7 after leaving his hostel. The kidnappers later demanded TK 80 lakh ransom from his family and killed him when the ransom was not paid.


A case was filed with Vatara police station on November 11 in this regard.

Based on intelligence and technology, police arrested the duo from Tangail’s Madhupur area on November 11 and later, recovered Sudipto’s body, also a knife used in the murder and his mobile phone from a house under Shah Ali Police Station in Dhaka.

The arrestees were produced before to court, the release said.
