DHAKA, Nov 12, 2025 (BSS) - Two suspects were arrested after an abandoned train compartment was set on fire at Tejgaon Railway Station in the city on Wednesday night, police said.

According to Dhaka Railway District Police Superintendent (SP) Anwar Hossain, the fire broke out around 9:30 pm. The compartment had been lying unused at the station for a long time.

Railway security personnel and local residents managed to extinguish the flames before they could spread to nearby compartments.

SP Anwar Hossain confirmed that two suspects were apprehended at the scene by railway security staff and locals and later handed over to the police.

On the same night, miscreants set a bus on fire at Dhalaipar under Shyampur Police Station. Two firefighting units rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control.

Earlier in the day, another bus was torched in the Shah Ali Police Station area of the capital. Firefighters promptly doused the flames, and no casualties were reported in either incident.

Additionally, crude bomb explosions were reported near Dhaka University's TSC area and Karwan Bazar on Wednesday night.

In recent days, several incidents of arson targeting public transport have been reported across Dhaka, raising concerns over public safety.
