DHAKA, Nov 13, 2025 (BSS) - The New Age Editor Nurul Kabir and the Editor and Publisher of the daily Banik Barta Dewan Hanif Mahmud have been elected as president and general secretary respectively of the Editor’s Council today for a two-year term.

Besides, the daily Ittefaq Editor Tasmima Hossain has been elected as vice president, the daily Supravat Bangladesh Editor Rushu Mahmud as assistant general secretary, the Daily Star Editor and Publisher Mahfuj Anam, the daily Manabjamin Editor Matiur Rahman Chowdhury, the daily Prothom Alo Editor Matiur Rahman, the daily Karatoa Editor Md Mozammel Haque and the daily Inqilab Editor AMM Bahauddin as executive members.

Earlier, an annual general meeting was held at the Daily Star Centre with its President Mahfuj Anam in the chair, said a press release here.

Members of the Editor’s Council were present at the event.

After the election, they congratulated the newly elected president, general secretary and other members of the committee.
