DHAKA, Nov 15, 2025 (BSS)- On behalf of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, a delegation of “Amra BNP Paribar” today went to stand by Radio artist Afroza Nizami in the PC Culture Housing area of Shyamoli of the city.

The issue came to the attention of Tarique Rahman after a recent report titled, 'Afroza Nizami, the familiar voice of advertisement waves, whose profession is the voice behind the scenes,' was published online by the daily Prothom Alo.

Following this, the Acting Chairman immediately instructed Convener of Amra BNP Poribar Atiqur Rahman Rumen to extend support to the radio artist.

During the visit, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General and Chief Advisor of Amra BNP Poribar  Ruhul Kabir Rizvi was present as the Chief Guest.

The delegation presented a special medical assistance fund to the respected artist and also conveyed Tarique Rahman's message of sympathy to Afroza Nizami and pledged their continued support.

Afroza Nizami's voice was popular in the 1990s through continuous advertisement segments and radio dramas broadcast on the popular radio medium.

The magic of her voice defined the radio listening experience for a generation, and the words she spoke from behind the microphone remain a childhood memory for many.

After visiting Afroza Nizami, Rizvi told to the media that the aspiration of the July Uprising is a new Bangladesh.

He said, "The self-sacrifice and aspiration of the martyrs in the July Uprising is a new Bangladesh.

A new Bangladesh, where no fascist will  ever be born, where no one will suppress the voices of opposition political parties and people's freedom of expression, and where people will roam freely with security.

These are the core spirit of the July Uprising."

Referring to the BNP's support for the July National Charter, Rizvi said, "Of course, we are in favor of the July Charter.

But the essence and substance of the July Charter, which the general public can understand, should have been presented to the nation in that manner."

The veteran BNP leader also commented that if one disagrees on any one of the four questions in the referendum, there is no scope to say 'No'. He later advised that the referendum questions should be framed in a way that the common people can understand.

Alleging that the Awami League is attempting to create sabotage in the country, he said, "Awami League is attempting to create sabotage in the country with huge financial backing from India.

They want to create a terrifying situation in the country."

When asked about the verdict concerning fascist Sheikh Hasina, Rizvi said that the matter of Sheikh Hasina's trial lies on the court. But the people of the country want a fair trial for the killings.

Accusing that the country's situation is gradually being taken towards a murky state, Rizvi said that the deposed autocrat is engaged in various conspiracies from a neighboring country.

They are carrying out various acts of violence, starting from burning cars in Dhaka, Gazipur and other places.

"This culture is the Awami culture. If the government had broken the fangs of fascism from the beginning, this would not be happening now."
