The Soul of Jute Exhibition to Open in Dhaka on Nov 17

DHAKA, Nov 15, 2025 (BSS) - A three-day international exhibition titled "The Soul of Jute: Craft, Culture, Tourism and Innovation" will begin in Dhaka on November 17, bringing together the country's jute-based industry, cultural heritage, tourism potential and innovative practices under one platform.

Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Water Resources Affairs Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan and Adviser to Commerce, Textiles and Jute; and Civil Aviation and Tourism Sheikh Bashir Uddin will inaugurate the exhibition on November 17 at La Galerie of Alliance Fran‡aise de Dhaka, at Mirpur Road in Dhanmondi.

Jute Diversification Promotion Centre (JDPC) of Textiles and Jute ministry is organizing the event.

JDPC Managing Director (Joint Secretary) Md Zahid Hossain said the government intends to highlight Bangladesh's golden fibre, cultural richness and tourism prospects through this event in a fresh and engaging way. 

He said that the exhibition will present the technical craftsmanship of jute, contemporary design innovations and the depth of rural life, offering visitors a glimpse into how jute is gaining renewed global recognition both as a symbol of heritage and as a sustainable material for the future.

Organised with the support of Alliance Française de Dhaka the exhibition features six thematic sections encompassing eco-friendly jute innovations for everyday use, aesthetic applications of jute in modern living and workspaces, the material's versatile potential in fashion and design, its creative expression in painting and visual arts, its contemporary uses in industry and technology, and the links between jute, sustainable tourism and local craft-based economic development.

The exhibition will remain open to visitors every day from 10am to 8pm.
