Four remanded over murder of listed criminal Mamun

DHAKA, Nov 16, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today placed four people, including the two shooters who gunned down listed criminal Tarik Saif Mamun in broad daylight in Old Dhaka's Sutrapur area on November 10, on a five-day remand each in the case lodged over the incident.

The four remanded accused are- shooters Md Faruk Hossain Foysal and Robin Ahammed Pias and their accomplices Shamim Ahammed and Md Rubel.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Hasibuzzaman passed the order as police produced the four before the court after the end of their four-day remand in an arms case filed over the incident and pleaded to show them arrested in the murder case filed with the Sutrapur Police Station and subsequently place them on a 10-day remand in the case.

The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Partho Bhodro on November 12 had placed the four accused along with another Yusuf on a four-day remand in the arms case filed with the capital's Mohammadpur Police Station.

Police arrested Faruk, Robin, Shamim and Rubel from Narsingdi on November 11, while Yusuf was apprehended from the capital's Rayerbazar area in the early hours of November 12. 

Two foreign-made pistols, six rounds of bullets, two magazines, and two motorcycles used in the murder and Taka 1.53 lakh in cash were seized from their possession. Police later filed the case under Arms Act on November 12.

Meanwhile, Mamun's widow Bilkis Akter Ripa filed the murder case on November 15.

 Faruk and Robin gunned Mamun down in broad daylight in front of National Medical College Hospital on November 10.
