5-day 'Jor Ijtema' begins at Tongi

GAZIPUR, Nov 28, 2025 (BSS) - A five-day 'Jor Ijtema', a preparatory event of the Bishwa Ijtema, began today after Fajr prayers on the bank of Turag river at Tongi here.

The Jor Ijtema will conclude before noon on Tuesday, (December 2).

Habibullah Raihan, media coordinator of Jor Ijtema organiser Shura-e-Nizam, Tabligh Jamaat Bangladesh (Jobayer faction), confirmed it.

He said that as part of the preparations for the Bishwa Ijtema, the Jor Ijtema is held every year about 40 days in advance.

During this gathering, Tabligh members (Chillah observers) from home and abroad get the opportunity to review their yearly work and receive guidance from the seniors, he said.

Officer-in-Charge (OC)of Tongi West Police Station Md. Harun-or-Rashid said the five-day Jor Ijtema of the followers of Mawlana Jobayer Ahmed began today and it will conclude on December 2.

Additional police forces have been deployed to ensure the security of the participating devotees, he added.
