CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Nov 28, 2025 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered three one-shooter guns and six rounds of ammunition during a drive in Shibganj upazila.

BGB-59 Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Golam Kibria said the operation was carried out last night at the 183/4 S pillar area under the Chakpara border outpost, inside 25 yards of the border near the Pagla river.

Briefing reporters at his office today, he said the drive was launched based on secret information.

Lt Col Kibria said the BGB director general has instructed personnel to remain on high alert as criminal groups are attempting to smuggle arms and ammunition ahead of the upcoming national elections in February.

He said special drives have been intensified across border areas as part of the force's zero-tolerance stance on smuggling of arms, drugs and other illegal items.
