KHULNA, Dec 1, 2025 (BSS) – Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dr. Shafiqur Rahman today said that the struggle will continue to build a corruption-free society, establish justice and economic freedom, and ensure a truly independent state.
“We do not seek the victory of eight parties, we seek the victory of 18 crore people,” he said this afternoon while addressing the Khulna divisional rally of the eight-party alliance at the Shibbari Mor in the city.
Islami Andolon Bangladesh Ameer, Pir Saheb Chormonai Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim, presided over the rally.
Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis Ameer Allama Mamunul Haque, Senior Naeb-e-Ameer Maulana Sakhawat Hossain, Nizam-e-Islam Party Secretary General Mufti Musa bin Izhar, Bangladesh Khelafat Andolon Secretary General Maulana Yusuf Sadeq Hokkani, Jagpa Vice-President Engineer Rashed Pradhan, BDP Chairman Advocate Anwarul Islam Chan, and senior leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Andolon addressed the rally as special guests.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman alleged that after the August 5 revolution, a section of people has been trying to exert influence through extortion and disorder.
He claimed that no Islamist party has been involved in such activities.
Presiding over the event, Mufti Rezaul Karim said his party is fully prepared for the elections, accusing opponents of plotting ahead of the upcoming February polls as they have “lost ground beneath their feet.”
In his remarks, Allama Mamunul Haque said Bangladesh is now divided between the “’72 Bakshal-oriented forces” and “the 2024 revolutionists.”
He called for a national referendum to give the July Charter a final legal basis and prayed for the recovery of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
Other speakers criticized the previous government, demanded reforms, called for a level playing field, and stressed that future governance must reflect Islamic principles.
Some also demanded the banning of Awami League and Jatiya Party, saying that the nation rejects any form of foreign influence.
