
CHATTOGRAM, Dec 16, 2025 (BSS) - Panchlaish Police under the Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) arrested eight activists of the banned (activities) Juba League on charges of attempting to create panic and anarchy by bringing out a flash procession in the city.
Police said the arrests were made through separate raids conducted in different areas of Chattogram city and Muradnagar upazila of Cumilla district on Monday and Tuesday. Two auto-rickshaws used during the procession were also seized.
According to police, the flash procession was brought out in the early hours of December 13 in the Probortak Crossing and Nasirabad Housing Society areas. Participants were seen chanting slogans in favour of the banned Juba League and Chhatra League while carrying sticks and stones. Sensing the presence of law enforcement personnel, they fled the scene.
The arrested activists are Aboy Dutta (39), Md Azad (20), Md Hasan alias Manik (20), Jony (24), Kawser (24), Md Raju (25), Md Akash (25) and Md Saiful Islam (24).
Panchlaish Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Solaiman said that acting on a tip-off and after reviewing video footage of the incident, police initially detained one person from the Panchlaish area and two others from the Ambagan area of the city. Based on information obtained from them, the remaining five were arrested from Muradnagar in Cumilla.
All the arrested Juba League activists have been produced before the court for further legal action, police added.
