DMP files 516 cases against traffic rules violations

DHAKA, Jan 1, 2026 (BSS) – As part of the ongoing campaign to bring traffic system under control, Dhaka Metropolitan Police's (DMP) Traffic Division has filed a total of 516 cases against vehicles, owners and its drivers for violating traffic rules.

Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations Division) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Muhammad Talebur Rahman said that the DMP traffic division conducted campaign against traffic rule breakers during the last one day and filed the cases.

He said that the DMP traffic police dumped 130 motor vehicles and towed 34 vehicles during the campaign on December 31.

The release further said that campaign against traffic violators will continue to ensure discipline on Dhaka's streets.

During the drive, Motijheel traffic division filed 61 cases, Wari division registered 59 cases, Tejgaon division filed 14 cases, Mirpur division filed 72 cases, Gulshan division filed 90 cases, Uttara division registered 146 cases, Ramna division filed 26 cases and Lalbagh division registered 48 cases against motor vehicles as well as three wheelers and motorcycles, it said.
