NARSINGDI, Jan 2, 2026 (BSS) - BNP Joint Secretary General Khairul Kabir Khokon today said Begum Khaleda Zia was uncompromising in upholding democracy and serving the people, dedicating her entire life to their welfare by sacrificing personal comfort and luxury.

He said Begum Khaleda Zia always prioritized the welfare of the people above all, which, he added, was why people across the country had given her a dignified farewell.

Khairul Kabir Khokon, also the president of Narsingdi District BNP, made the remarks while presiding over a doa and milad mahfil organised by the district BNP at the Narsingdi Shishu Academy auditorium this evening, praying for the eternal peace of the departed soul of Begum Khaleda Zia.

He said that fascist Sheikh Hasina had wanted to relocate the grave of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, but today Begum Khaleda Zia has been laid to eternal rest beside him. "Whom Allah honours, no one can take that honour away. People from home and abroad are paying tribute to her today," he added. 

Khokon further said that the national parliamentary election is scheduled to be held next February. Turning grief into strength, BNP leaders and activists must follow the ideals of martyred President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia to achieve victory in the upcoming election. 

Narsingdi District BNP Senior Vice President and BNP-nominated candidate for Narsingdi-4 constituency Sardar Sakhawat Hossain Bokul, District BNP General Secretary and candidate for Narsingdi-3 constituency Manzur Elahi, along with leaders and activists of BNP and its associate organizations, among others, were present.
