Travel ban imposed on former Jamalpur-1 MP Noor Mohammed, wife

DHAKA, Jan 05, 2026 (BSS) - A court here today imposed a travel ban on former member of parliament (MP) from Jamalpur-1 constituency, Noor Mohammed, his wife Rowshan Ara Begum and his nephew Saiful Islam over graft allegations.
 
Dhaka Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
 
The application stated that an investigation is currently underway into allegations that Noor Mohammed, his nephew Saiful Islam, and their dependents acquired assets beyond their known sources of income.
 
During the course of the inquiry, there is a possibility that they may leave the country. In the interest of conducting a fair and proper investigation into the allegations, it is necessary to impose a ban on their foreign travel, the application added.
 
Meanwhile, the same court today also imposed a travel ban on the Chairman of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC), Md Salim Ullah, over graft charges.
