15 held in anti-crime drives in Hatirjheel, Uttara

DHAKA, Jan 18, 2026 (BSS) - Hatirjheel and Uttara Purba police have arrested 
15 people in separate anti-crime drives conducted in different areas of the 
capital.

According to sources at Hatirjheel Police Station, a special drive was 
carried out on Saturday in the areas under the station's jurisdiction, during 
which seven people were arrested. 

The arrestees are Md. Rana (23), Zahirul Hawlader (25), Md. Sirajul Islam 
(55), Rajesh Kumar (30), Md. Tanvir Hasib Chowdhury, Md. Yasin Arafat (19), 
and Md. Sajeeb Hossain (30).

Meanwhile, Uttara Purba Police Station also conducted a special drive on the 
same day, arresting eight people from its jurisdiction. 

Those arrested are GM Hossain Ali (25), Md. Shafiqul (29), Md. Akash Islam 
(19), Md. Mammunur Rashid (30), Md. Alam (20), Md. Shaon (19), Md. Maruf 
(25), and Md. Nur Alam (20).

Police said the drives were part of ongoing efforts to curb criminal 
activities in the capital.
