DHAKA, Jan 5, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami today said the country
must not be allowed to fall victim to any conspiracy, plot or domination by
any group, as its central executive council expressed concern that a fully
free, fair and neutral election environment has yet to be created.

The observations came from a meeting of the party's Central Executive Council
held today at its central office in Moghbazar, with Jamaat Ameer Dr Md
Shafiqur Rahman in the chair.

Nayeeb-e-Ameers, the secretary general, assistant secretaries general and
members of the central executive council were present at the meeting, a
Jamaat press statement said.

The meeting held detailed discussions on the overall environment surrounding
the upcoming referendum and the 13th Jatiya Sangsad election.

Participants opined that conditions for a free, fair and neutral election
have not yet been fully ensured, alleging that political leaders and
activists are still being killed in broad daylight in different parts of the
country.

The executive council said fascism was ousted through a 16-year-long movement
and struggle, involving the sacrifice of around 1,500 martyrs and injuries
and disabilities suffered by more than 30,000 people. It said the "new
Bangladesh" achieved through such sacrifices must not be allowed to be held
hostage by any conspiracy or vested group.

From the meeting, a call was made on the Election Commission, election
officials and law enforcement agencies to discharge their duties properly
while maintaining the highest level of neutrality.

The Jamaat central executive council also strongly urged the Election
Commission and the government to take firm measures to ensure 100 percent
neutrality of the administration and bring about the desired improvement in
the overall law and order situation, aiming to guarantee a free, fair and
impartial election, the statement added.
