Meeting of JRC Bangladesh committee held

DHAKA, Jan 5, 2026 (BSS) - A meeting of the reformed Bangladesh committee of the Joint River Commission (JRC) was held today at Pani Bhaban on Green Road in the capital.

Water Resources Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan, who also serves as the Chairman of the Commission, presided over the meeting, according to an official handout.

The Bangladesh committee of the JRC was reconstituted by the Ministry of Water Resources on December 1 last year.

At the meeting, Commission member Engineer M Anwar Quadir presented an overview of the commission's activities and outlined its future action plan.

The reformed JRC Bangladesh committee is headed by Water Resources Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan as Chairman. Other members include the Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Water Resources, the Director General (South Asia Desk) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Professor Dr M Ataur Rahman, JRC Engineer from the Department of Water Resources Engineering (WRE) at BUET, former Secretary and part-time faculty specialist at the Bangladesh Institute of Governance and Management (BIGM) Dr Mahfuzul Huq and former diplomat Mehdi Hasan.
