28 arrested under Operation Devil Hunt Phase-2 in Dhaka

DHAKA, Jan 17, 2026 (BSS) - Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested 28 people from different parts of the capital within the last 24 hours as part of Operation Devil Hunt Phase-2.

The arrests were carried out by Mugda, Banani and Rupnagar police stations during coordinated drives in crime-prone areas on Friday.

Deputy Police Commissioner, Media and Public Relations Division, DMP, Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed the arrests.

Mugda Police Station arrested nine individuals during operations in its jurisdiction. Those arrested are Md. Salman Amed (19), Rifat Alam Munna (18), Md. Emon (25), Md. Mamun (20), Md. Mannan (23), Md. Sujan (32), Naimur Rahman Apan (28), Md. Aslam (26) and Md. Sagar (20).

Meanwhile, Banani Police Station arrested seven individuals following a day-long drive.

The arrestees are Md. Sharif Mia (28), Md. Khorshed Alam (50), Md. Munsur Ali (35), Mohammad Ali (19), Shahinur Hossain (25), Md. Sabuj Mia (23) and Md. Rakib (20).

In addition, Rupnagar Police Station arrested 12 individuals during similar operations. 

Those arrested include Mauli Akhter Mallika (35), Md. Shraban (20), Md. Raju (35), Mobarak Hossain (22), Md. Abdul Qayyum (24), Md. Ashadul Islam (23), Md. Abir Hasan (28), Md. Mahibul Islam (26), Md. Ishraq Hossain Ifti (25), Md. Taibur Rahman (25), Md. Sabuj Mia (23) and Md. Mustakim Salehin Ekram Ant (24).

Police said all the arrested individuals were involved in various criminal activities. 

They have been sent to the court for further legal proceedings.
