DHAKA, Jan 19, 2026 (BSS) - BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman held a series of meetings today with envoys from 11 countries, including the United States Ambassador to Bangladesh, focusing on strengthening bilateral and multilateral relations.

Tarique Rahman's Foreign Affairs Adviser and BNP Joint Secretary General Humayun Kabir made the remarks at a press conference outside the BNP Chairman's political office in Gulshan this evening.

He said the discussions also covered key issues such as trade and investment as well as the Rohingya crisis. 

Humayun Kabir said the ambassadors were enthusiastic about the upcoming elections and expressed satisfaction with the environment before the elections.

Earlier in the day, newly appointed US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T. Christensen paid a courtesy call on Tarique Rahman. Subsequently, envoys from Germany, France, Sweden, Denmark, Spain, and Italy, led by EU Ambassador to Dhaka Michael Miller, also met with him.
