
RAJSHAHI, Jan 22, 2026 (BSS)- Inspector General of Prisons Brig Gen Syed Md. Motaher Hossain said they have to work quietly for transforming the prisons into correction centers for the misguided individual.
“I hope prison guards will always remain vigilant in performing this duty and will be firmly committed to carrying it out properly with their utmost sacrifice. In every case, duties must be carried out by moving forward with faith in the Almighty Creator.”
He made these remarks while addressing the newly recruited prison guards at the passing-out parade of the 63rd batch of the foundation training course at the Rajshahi Prison Training Center here today as chief guest.
Calling upon the prison guards who successfully completed the rigorous training to embark on a new journey through taking the oath, the Inspector General said that the Prison Department is one of the oldest institutions in Bangladesh.
After the Great Liberation War of 1971, Bangladesh Jail began its journey in independent Bangladesh. In continuation of that legacy, Bangladesh Jail is currently striving to develop as a transparent and service-oriented institution, with the primary objective of reforming inmates and guiding them toward the path of light.
Reminding them that the life of a prison guard is not merely a job but also a disciplined way of life, he said that the training they have received so far was only basic training for entering the life of a prison guard.
he dedication, concentration, and determination with which they participated in various training activities were truly commendable and encouraging.
On this occasion, he requested the guardians to extend their cooperation so that the prison guards do not go astray in any way and are able to meet the expectations of service recipients.
A total of 687 prison guards participated in the passing-out parade.
Among them, Tanvin Ahmed was adjudged the Best Trainee overall, Rakib Mia as Best Trainee in Drill, Bappi Hossain in PT, Dipankar Das in Firing, Roni Hossain in Unarmed Combat and Rion Islam Rokon in Academics.
