ACC files case against former Kushtia Sadar Upazila chairman

DHAKA, Feb 8, 2026 (BSS)- The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a 
case against Ataur Rahman, former chairman of Kushtia Sadar Upazila, for 
failing to submit his wealth statement within the stipulated time.

Deputy Director of the Public Relations Department at the ACC headquarters Md 
Aktarul Islam confirmed the news to BSS today.

He said the case was filed against Ataur Rahman under section 26(2) of the 
Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004, for not submitting the wealth statement 
within the prescribed time.

Ataur Rahman is the General Secretary of Kushtia Poura Awami League. He is 
also a cousin of Mahbub Ul Alam Hanif, former lawmaker of Kushtia-3 (Sadar) 
constituency and Joint General Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League.
