DHAKA, Feb 8, 2026 (BSS) - Ariful Islam, the candidate of the 11-party Jamaat-led alliance, including Jamaat-e-Islami and the National Citizen Party (NCP), in Dhaka-18 constituency, today said the people of Bangladesh have united against terrorism, corruption and extortion.
He said the nation is also united against what he described as Indian hegemony and the harassment, intimidation and killing of citizens.
"Those who are killing our brothers and harassing, intimidating and threatening our mothers and sisters-the people of the country are united against them," he said.
Ariful Islam made the remarks while addressing a rally in Azampur area of Uttara this evening following a procession.
He alleged that rival political forces, alarmed by the growing public support for the alliance, are resorting to planned harassment and intimidation of alliance leaders and activists.
"People no longer want politics based on terrorism, violence and fear," he said.
Ariful Islam further said that only an "Oikyoboddho Bangladesh" (United Bangladesh) can ensure the safety and security of the people in the days ahead.
"Bangladesh stands united against hegemony, border killings and foreign interference in national politics, and demands justice for every genocide. The alliance will implement necessary reforms to establish the fundamental and political rights of the people," he added.
Earlier, a procession began around 5:00 pm from Azampur Central Jame Mosque in Uttara, marched through several streets, and ended in front of the Airport Railway Station, followed by a short rally.
