CHATTOGRAM, Feb 8, 2026 (BSS) - Addressing police officers and members, Chattogram District Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Nazir Ahmed Khan emphasized that the police are not anyone's opponent but are committed to upholding the law.

He stated, "Our behavior will demonstrate that Bangladesh Police is a neutral, efficient, and people-friendly force." Khan stressed the importance of swiftly and responsibly addressing any threats of irregularities, chaos, or violence in the election environment.

Nazir Ahmed Khan made the remarks during a briefing for officers and forces from mobile and striking teams deployed for the 13th National Parliament election at Chattogram District Police Lines on Sunday.

The Superintendent of Police emphasized that force should only be used when necessary and in accordance with the law. He also stressed the importance of taking immediate legal action against those who attempt to violate the law.

He further stated that the police's main responsibility is to ensure that voters can cast their votes without fear or influence. Officers should maintain professionalism, patience, and proper behavior while carrying out their duties. Decisions should not be made emotionally, even in the face of provocation, incitement, or pressure.

During the briefing, it was outlined that the mobile party would be responsible for maintaining law and order by patrolling the polling stations and surrounding areas regularly. The striking party, acting as a rapid response team, would be deployed to swiftly address any sudden law and order issues, such as violence, clashes, or attempts to disrupt the voting process.

The Superintendent of Police provided a brief overview of the roles and responsibilities of the mobile and striking parties during the election period.
