DHAKA, Feb 9, 2026 (BSS) - A training workshop titled "Impact of Artificial
Intelligence (AI) on the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) and What Airports
in Bangladesh Should Do" was held at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport
(HSIA), one of the gateways for the import of chemical products in the
interest of the overall security of the country.

A total of 30 trainees working in the Customs, Cargo and Courier Section of
HSIA took part in the training workshop here, said a release of Inter
Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate this afternoon.

With the objective of this training how artificial intelligence-based
capabilities can cause chemical accidents by breaking through the traditional
Chemical Weapons Convention and the security perimeter of airports and to
provide preventive measures in this regard.

Commodore Md Monir Uddin Mallick, member secretary of Bangladesh National
Authority for the Chemical Weapons Convention (BNACWC), distributed
certificates among the trainees at the concluding session of the workshop.

Meanwhile, speaking on the occasion, he pledged to work together with BNACWC
and Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) to address the challenges
of dual use of artificial intelligence (AI).

They would work towards increasing self-awareness and taking intelligent
steps to ensure that criminals using artificial intelligence and Hazrat
Shahjalal International Airport could not cause chemical accidents inside the
country in any way, the ISPR added.
