
DHAKA, Feb 14, 2026 (BSS) – BNP Chairman and chief patron of Amra BNP Poribar, Tarique Rahman, has extended support to a housewife who was reportedly divorced for voting for the ‘Sheaf of Paddy’ in the 13th national parliamentary election held on Thursday.
Following Tarique Rahman’s instructions, a delegation of Amra BNP Poribar visited the residence of the victim, Bibi Johora, at Bashtola area of Dharmapur Union under Feni Sadar on Saturday afternoon.
The delegation led by Agriculturist Moksedul Momin Mithun, Member Secretary of Amra BNP Paribar, enquired about Johora’s overall condition, provided her with financial assistance and assured support for her children’s education and overall welfare.
Speaking on the occasion, Mithun said the organisation would stand by the family on humanitarian ground and take necessary initiatives to ensure continued assistance.
Among others present were Rafiqul Alam Majnu, the newly elected Member of Parliament from the Feni-1 constituency; Bellal Ahmed, Assistant Secretary for Village Government Affairs of the BNP National Executive Committee; BNP National Executive Committee members Mashiur Rahman Biplob and Abu Taleb; Aman Uddin Kayser Sabbir, Member Secretary of Sadar Upazila BNP; Delwar Hossain Babul, Convener of Feni Poura BNP; its Member Secretary Advocate Mezbah Uddin Bhuiya; Nasir Uddin Khondokar, Convener of Feni District Jubo Dal; its Member Secretary Naim Ullah Chowdhury Borat; member Ahsan Sumon; Morshed Alam Milon, General Secretary of Feni District Chhatra Dal.
According to local sources, Bibi Johora is currently facing uncertainty along with her three children following the divorce pronounced by her husband, Ismail Hossain Kawser. The validity of the divorce under Shariah law is currently under review.
