NOAKHALI, Feb 26, 2026 (BSS) – Kaniz Fatema, the wife of BNP Chairman’s advisor and former opposition chief whip, Zainul Abdin Farooq was laid to eternal rest at her family graveyard at Yarpur village of Senbag upazila of the district this morning.

Her namaz-e-janaza was held around 11 am at Shibpur High School ground of the upazila.

Kaniz Fatema, 73, passed away while undergoing treatment at the ICU of Evercare Hospital in Dhaka on Wednesday, February 25, at 10:40 am.

Her first namaz-e-janaza was held yesterday in Dhaka at House No. 43, Lake Road, Nikunja-1, after Zohr prayers.

Prominent figures, including Noakhali-5 MP Fakhrul Islam, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Shafiqul Islam, Police Superintendent T.M. Mosharraf Hossain and District BNP Convener Mahbub Alamgir Alo, were present at the janaza.

BNP leaders, relatives, and well-wishers expressed deep grief and prayed for the eternal peace of her soul.
