95 arrested in special drive in Mohammadpur-Adabar area

DHAKA, Feb 26, 2026 (BSS) - Members of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP)'s Tejgaon Division arrested 95 individuals in a special drive conducted in the Mohammadpur and Adabar police station areas to ensure safe observance of holy month of Ramadan and a peaceful celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr in capital.

According to sources from the Tejgaon Division, the four-hour operation was carried out continuously from approximately 10:00 pm to 2:00 am on Wednesday. 

The main objective of the drive was to identify and detain individuals involved in extortion, juvenile gangs, drug trafficking, snatching, and other criminal activities. 

Sources said 41 individuals involved in various crimes were arrested in different areas under Adabar Police Station. 

Meanwhile, police of Mohammadpur Police Station arrested 54 individuals during the special operation. 

Among them, one was arrested in a case related to preparation for robbery, one in a murder case, four in extortion cases, four were warrant-listed accused, and 44 were detained under other laws.

The arrestees have been sent to the court.

Such special operations will continue to maintain law and order, suppress crime, and ensure public safety, the police source said.
