Court orders seizure of tax files of ex-ASP Ziaur's wife

DHAKA, March 3, 2026 (BSS) - A court here today ordered the seizure of tax files of Jesmin Nahar Sanchita, wife of former assistant superintendent of police (ASP) Md Ziaur Rahman, over graft allegations.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The petition stated that the ACC filed a case on December 1, 2025, against Jesmin Nahar Sanchita on charges of acquiring and possessing assets worth Taka 67.57 lakh beyond known sources of income and concealing information regarding assets worth Taka 20.51 lakh.

"She is an income taxpayer. For the sake of a fair investigation of the case, it is essential to seize all relevant original records and information, including the permanent and miscellaneous sections of her income tax documents, from the beginning of her tax records up to the 2024-25 assessment year," the petition added.
