Journalist Anis Alamgir gets bail in anti-terrorism act case

DHAKA, Mar 05, 2026 (BSS)- The High Court (HC) today granted bail to journalist Anis Alamgir in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act with the city's Uttara West Police Station.
 
A High Court Division Bench of Justice K M Zahid Sarwar and Justice Sheikh Abu Taher passed the order after holding a hearing on the plea moved by Advocate Tamanna Ferdous.
 
Anis Alamgir was taken into the Detective Branch (DB) of Police custody on December 14, 2025, and was shown arrested in the case a couple of hours later.
 
The case was filed by one Arian Ahmed, an organiser of the July Revolutionary Alliance, against Anis Alamgir, actress Meher Afroz Shaon and two others. The other accused are fashion model Maria Kispatta and presenter Imtu Ratish Imtiaz.
