MANIKGANJ, Mar 16, 2026 (BSS) - Ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia route resumed early today after remaining suspended for about 1.15 hours due to stormy wind.

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) sources at Paturia Ghat said the authorities suspended ferry movement around 10:45pm on Sunday as strong winds began blowing, prioritising the safety of passengers and vehicles.

The services resumed around 12:00 am after the weather situation improved.

During the suspension, six ferries - Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Barkat, Khan Jahan Ali, Bonolota, Shah Enayetpuri, Shaheed Motiur Rahman and Hasna Hena - remained stranded at Paturia Ghat with vehicles and passengers onboard, while four ferries - Shah Paran, Bir Shreshtha Jahangir, Kumilla and Bhaigar - stayed at Daulatdia Ghat.

Ferry movement on the Aricha-Kazirhat route was also halted during the same period due to the stormy wind.

However, ferry services on both routes have now returned to normal and are operating with full loads of vehicles and passengers.
