DHAKA, March 17, 2026 (BSS) - Dhaka University Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Professor Dr Mamun Ahmed has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC) for a period of four years.

The Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education today issued a notification in this connection.

“Professor Dr Mamun Ahmed has been appointed to this post in accordance with Section 4 (1) (A) of the Bangladesh University Grants Commission Act, 1973,” the notification stated.

The appointment will be effective from the date of his joining, the notification added.
