DHAKA, Mar 16, 2026 (BSS) - A court here today sent one Md Abdus Salam, who was arrested in a case lodged for impersonating the Prime Minister’s personal assistant (PA), to jail.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Arifur Rahman passed the order as police produced the accused before the court and pleaded to place him on a five-day remand in the case, while the defence counsel argued for his bail.

After hearing both the sides, the court sent the accused to jail and set March 24 for holding a hearing on the remand plea.

According to the case documents, Md Abdus Salam had long been using the identity of the Prime Minister’s personal assistant. Under this false identity, he carried out illegal financial transactions, engaged in employment trading in various government and private offices, and committed fraudulent activities against ordinary citizens.

Based on verification and evidence, he was arrested him from the Agargaon water tank area on March 15.
