DHAKA, March 16, 2026 (BSS) - The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested 15 people during a block raid conducted in Paltan area of the capital to maintain law and order in crime-prone areas.

According to a DMP press release, the operation was carried out in Paltan police station area from 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm on Sunday. 

The Motijheel Zonal Team of the DB's Motijheel Division, along with the Illegal Weapons Recovery and Narcotics Control Team under Paltan Police Station, conducted the drive in Ershad Road area adjacent to the National Football Stadium.

During the operation, 15 individuals were detained. 

The arrested persons are: Md. Shahadat (18), Md. Robin (18), Helal (39), Helal (35), Md. Shahidul Islam (19), Md. Jewel (27), Hridoy (27), Badsha (28), Md. Jasim Sardar (28), Md. Arif (35), Md. Farhad (35), Sheikh Shahidul Islam Nadim (37), Jamal (36), Ismail (32) and Md. Babul Bashar (35).

Later, the detainees were produced before the Special Metropolitan Magistrate Court. 

Following summary trials, the court sentenced two individuals to 20 days of simple imprisonment and 11 others to 15 days of simple imprisonment, while two were acquitted.

Police officials said such block raid operations will continue in different areas of the capital to maintain law and order.
