
CHATTOGRAM, March 17, 2026 (BSS) - Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain today distributed Eid gifts, provided by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, among the conservancy workers of the city corporation.
The distribution programme was held at the Kazir Deuri International Convention Center in the city this afternoon, where the mayor attended as the chief guest and handed over the gifts.
A total of 3,270 sanitation workers of CCC are receiving Eid gifts worth Tk 5,000 each this year.
Earlier, cheques for Eid gifts for sanitation workers of 12 city corporations across the country were handed over to the respective mayors and administrators at a programme held at the Prime Minister's Office at the Bangladesh National Parliament Secretariat on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, the mayor highlighted the vital role of sanitation workers in keeping the city clean and livable.
He said the workers continue their duties round the clock, regardless of weather conditions, to ensure a healthy environment for residents.
Describing the Eid assistance as a humanitarian gesture, he said the initiative reflects recognition of their contribution and is expected to boost their morale.
The mayor also stressed the importance of cleanliness in enhancing the overall image and livability of Chattogram, urging the workers to carry out their duties with sincerity and a strong sense of responsibility.
Among others, former general secretary of Chattogram city BNP Abul Hashem Bakkar, CCC Acting Chief Executive Officer and Secretary Md Ashraful Amin, Chief Conservancy Officer Captain Ikhtiar Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury and Chief Education Officer Dr Kissinger Chakma were present.
