DHAKA, March 17, 2026 (BSS) - Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Md Shafiqul Islam Khan today inaugurated a newly constructed Eidgah and playground in Uttarkhan’s Madhyapara area under Ward-45.
Speaking as the chief guest, he said the facility would serve not only as a venue for Eid prayers but also as a community and cultural hub where people of all ages, including women and children, can safely use the space.
Highlighting urban challenges, he said mosquito control cannot be ensured by insecticides alone, stressing the need for public awareness and maintaining cleanliness.
The project, implemented by DNCC’s Environment, Climate and Disaster Management Circle, was constructed at a cost of Tk 279.42 crore from the corporation’s own funds.
The ground can accommodate around 1,250 worshippers for Eid prayers and also includes arrangements for funeral prayers.
Facilities include a 150-metre drainage system and 150-metre-long walkways.
The Eidgah complex also features separate facilities for men, women and persons with disabilities, along with a modern public toilet, safe water supply and ablution facilities.
The playground is equipped with sports facilities for children, including football equipment, and includes a water pump, two large gates and one smaller access gate.
The field is landscaped with greenery, along with 12 seating arrangements and six waste bins.
The newly built facility is expected to be used for religious activities during Eid and for recreational purposes throughout the year, contributing to a healthier and greener urban environment.
