RAJSHAHI, March 17, 2026 (BSS) - The newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of Rajshahi University (RU), Professor Dr Faridul Islam, assumed office this afternoon. 

He is a professor in the Department of Marketing at the university. 

During the joining ceremony, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Mohammad Main Uddin, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Md. Farid Uddin Khan, Acting Registrar Professor Iftikharul Alam Masud, along with deans, department heads, office chiefs, teachers, officials, staff, and students were present.
 
The Vice-Chancellor expressed his expectation of full cooperation from teachers, officials, employees, students, guardians, and all concerned in ensuring the continuity of academic and research activities as well as in running the administration. 

He also expressed his commitment to transforming Rajshahi University into a model center of knowledge in the country. 

Later, the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor placed a wreath at the grave of martyred Dr. Zoha and offered prayers.

He also laid wreaths at the Shaheed Minar and the mass grave memorial. Additionally, he planted a tree in the Senate Building premises.
