Trucks, covered vans, lorries to stay banned on highways for six days for Eid

DHAKA, March 17, 2026 (BSS) - Trucks, covered vans, and lorries will not be allowed to operate on highways for three days before and three days after the holy Eid-ul-Fitr from March 17 to March 23.

The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) announced this in an urgent notice today regarding public transport operations during the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr.

The notice stated parking will also not be allowed on both sides of major roads.

Vehicles carrying essential food items, perishable goods, garments, medicine, fertilizer, and fuel will remain out of the purview from this restriction.

To ensure uninterrupted traffic flow, all concerned have been requested to contact the central control room of the Road Transport and Highways Division if necessary, via hotline number 16107 or mobile numbers 01550051606 and 01550056577.
