PM’s gifts distributed among BCC sanitation workers in Barisal

BARISHAL, March 18, 2026 (BSS) - Eid gifts, provided by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, were distributed among sanitation workers of Barisal City Corporation (BCC) on Wednesday, ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.
 
The distribution ceremony took place at Ashwini Kumar Town Hall here around 12:30 pm, where the newly appointed BCC administrator Advocate Bilkis Akhter Jahan Shirin formally handed over the financial assistance.
 
A total of 1,378 sanitation workers each received Taka 5,000 as part of the initiative.
 
Speaking at the event, Shirin emphasized the importance of maintaining cleanliness and integrity within the city corporation. She pledged strict action against corruption and called for collective efforts to transform Barishal into a cleaner and more prosperous city. She also highlighted the need to combat drug-related issues in the community.
 
The event was presided over by BCC Chief Executive Officer Rezaul Bari.
 
It was addressed, among others, by divisional commissioner Md. Mahfuzur Rahman, police commissioner of Barishal Metropolitan Police Md. Shafiqul Islam, deputy commissioner Khairul Alam Sumon and City Corporation secretary Rumpa Sikder.
