MANIKGANJ, March 18, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Shipping Md. Rajib Ahsan today said homebound Eid passengers are travelling smoothly as the government has taken adequate measures to ensure hassle-free journeys.

"All ferries are operating normally with full capacity, and there is no traffic congestion at Paturia and Aricha ghats," he said.

The state minister made the remarks while speaking to journalists after visiting Paturia Ghat, a key transit point for 21 districts in the country's southwest region.

He described the arrangements as a positive initiative by the government, adding that officials and staff of BIWTC and BIWTA are working sincerely.

The district administration and police are also working in coordination to serve public interest, he said.

Deputy Commissioner Nazmun Ara Sultana and Superintendent of Police Mohammad Sarwar Alam are closely monitoring the situation, regularly visiting Paturia and Aricha ghats to oversee operations.
